Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Associate's degree and one to two years' related experience required.
  • Certification by Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council within probationary period required.
  • Physical examination, written examination, psychological evaluation, and background investigation required pursuant to Rule 32 of Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain, and driver's check required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people; physically restrain a suspect; run up/down several flights of stairs and up to 100 yards; stand for long periods of time; walk for several hours while on patrol; drive emergency response vehicle.
  • Ability to hear radio and telephone communications at both high and low decibels.
  • Radio and telephone communications require clear diction without impediments. Good vision needed.
